Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Made of Sterling Silver

The latest innovation in modern watchmaking is the sterling silver caseback. While bronze casebacks were a watchmaker’s favorite in 2018, they rarely strayed from durable metals like steel and aluminum to indulge in lustrous ones like silver. The Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special appears to be the first model to revive this effort, and its caseback is no longer the usual platinum, gold or stainless steel.

The Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special is Zenith’s first silver case watch, especially to debut ahead of Baselworld 2019. The Swiss watchmaker says the brushed silver case and the plane engraving on the caseback is a tribute to vintage aviation. The metal-welded or “bolt-on” aesthetic of the dial adds to this charm. The oversized elements of the timepiece seem to be everywhere, from the digital indicators to the crown to the hands. The 45mm case and oversized indicator make it look like a WWII-era navigation tool.

Inside, we see a Zenith Elite Automatic 679 movement with a 50-hour power reserve. Notably, the digital indicators and hands on the dial are illuminated. This timepiece also comes with a brown calfskin strap with a sterling silver buckle. luxury cheap watches
