Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Grigio Speciale

The collaboration between Chopard and Mille Miglia is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The famous Italian classic and classic car open road endurance race continues its annual race and inspires the fine watchmakers in Geneva. Launched a new limited edition “Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control Grigio Speciale”.

This timepiece embodies Chopard’s gentleman spirit, as the “Mille Miglia” series tends to do, but Chopard tries to go further in the small details of this new version. For example, the use of sports red and the choice of strap material, cordura® is a trademark fabric known for its use in motorsports and military-grade products.

We reviewed other watches in the “Mille Miglia” series, such as: “His & Hers” version, namely: “Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph for Men” (No. 168589-3002) and “Chopard Mille Miglia” ladies classic chronograph “Watch” (No. 178588-3001) was released at Baselworld 2017.

Or, “Chopard Mille Miglia Classic XL 90th Anniversary” (reference number: 161299-5001) is to celebrate the birth of this now fabulous motorsport, whose first race took place in 1927. Unlike this new anniversary model, it celebrates that Chopard started sponsoring “Mille Miglia” in 1988.

Now, the new “Grigio Speciale” uses a 43 mm case, made of ultra-light shot-peened grade 2 titanium, with a transparent back cover to view the inner workings of the mechanical movement.

The engraving can be seen on the titanium edge of the case back: “BRESCIA>ROMA>BRESCIA” and “LIMITED EDITION 1000”. The bottom cover of the exhibition is also equipped with a visible red washer and colored crystal.

Mounted on the case is a titanium bezel with matte black aluminum inlays and a 60-minute scale with shiny numerals. It has been carefully crafted to perfectly shape the curve of the wrist and ensure comfortable wearing. It is also equipped with a screw-in crown with a sapphire crystal on the top, all of which help keep this watch water-resistant to 100 meters (330 feet).

The time is displayed on a dotted anthracite grey ruthenium gold dial with matt black hour markers and Arabic numerals: 6 and 12. On the flange surrounding the bezel is a black ring with a white printed minute index mark, followed by a slightly larger mark every 5 minutes.

It has a date window at 3 o’clock and a power reserve indicator from 8 o’clock to 10 o’clock. There are also some scattered red embellishments, such as the Mille Miglia logo, which forms the date window;

The tip of the central seconds hand; and the sub-hand of the power reserve indicator, plus the “E” (representing the “empty” part) of the power reserve indicator.
