Matte black ceramics and military green emphasize the origin of divers and are underwater tools for naval combat swimmers.
Blancpain’s Bathyscaphe diving watch is a smaller version of the long-established Fifty Fat series. It is an all-terrain watch with a flexible case and 300m water resistance. It is also equipped with a high-frequency flyback chronograph, which combines Best performance activities on land and underwater. Today, it is made of matte black ceramic with a green dial and bezel. This is a military color scheme that highlights the origin of the watch and is a tool watch for the French navy frogman. Let’s take a look at this brand new Blancpain Fifty FatBathyscaphe Chronograph Flyback Green Watch.
Brief background
Blancpain’s famous Fifty Fathoms diving watch was designed by Jacques Fiechter, then CEO of Blancpain and an early scuba diving enthusiast, in the early 1950s. Later, Captain Robert Maloubier requested a watch for his French Navy combat swimmer (aka frogman) unit. They needed a flexible dive watch with a large black dial, bold numbers, clear markings and a rotating bezel to immerse in time. Blancpain responded with its Fifty Fat (increased magnetic shielding), which is a rugged automatic 42mm dive watch with a water resistance of 50 50 (91.45m).
Bathyscaphe is a sub-series of the Fifty Fat series. It has a smaller size. It was released to the public in 1956 as a diving watch and can be worn as a daily wearer. Over the past few decades, Bathyscaphe has undertaken complex tasks (date, date/date, annual calendar, moon phase, and 2014 flyback chronograph). Even with complicated functions, such as a flyback chronograph, Bathyscaphe still retains its mission as a practical diving watch, and provides a strong 300m water resistance and a high-frequency chronograph movement that can measure 1/10 second (F385) . . Black, gray and blue dials made by Blancpain show a new version of the Bathyscaphe chronograph flyback watch with a green trend dial.
Case and dial
The outer shell adopts a flexible 43.6mm x 15.20mm black ceramic case with a satin-brushed surface treatment. The novelty is the use of a striking green ceramic bezel. There is a satin-brushed green ceramic insert on the unidirectional rotating bezel, with a beige Liquidmetal mark on it, and a diamond-shaped direction mark at 12 o’clock.
The dial and rectangular hands are inspired by the old Bathyscaphe model. Creating new colors for the dial is not without difficulties. The first challenge is to find the “right” shade of green. As you know, green dials have been emerging throughout the watchmaking forest in the past few years-please visit our green dial search results page and you will understand what we mean. Blancpain’s design team chose this special green and polished the blank dial to remove scratches and obtain a soft, smooth surface. The next step is to create a texture on the dial with a sunburst pattern and lines radiating from the center. The chronographs at 3 o’clock (30 minutes) and 9 o’clock (12 hours) also have extra texture, which can stand out from the dial, and are hollowed out and nailed to increase depth. The next step is the application of color, which is applied in several nano-layers. The sunburst finish produces a pleasant reflection effect. Although it is not a smoky or gradient dial, it appears brighter in the center and darker on the periphery.wholesale watches replica
Readability is enhanced by using Super-LumiNova on the hour markers and hands. The tip of the central chronograph second hand is red. A date window is sandwiched between the luminous graphs at 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock, and a small seconds hand at 6 o’clock completes the dial.
High frequency automatic
The Blancpain F385 movement is a high-frequency automatic chronograph movement. Like Zenith El Primero, the 5Hz movement (36,000vph) has the advantage that it can measure elapsed time up to 1/10 second and maintain the best timing accuracy. As a flyback, you can stop, reset and start the hands of the chronograph by pressing a button at 4 o’clock. The F385 movement is a one-piece movement, equipped with a column wheel, a vertical clutch and an antimagnetic silicon hairspring. It can store up to 50 hours of power and is visible through the sapphire crystal back cover.
